Have Lunch With a Famous Artist!

By: Ginia Sweeney at 6:22 pm

Construction began on Tuesday on Madison Square Park’s fall public art installation. Tadashi Kawamata, known for his building projects comprised of found objects, will be creating a number of “Tree Huts” in the trees in the park. The sketches are lovely, and I went down to the park to check out the progress yesterday. The one hut I saw is perched surprisingly high in the tree. It brought back childhood memories: who knew a little piece of rural Connecticut could exist in Manhattan? So far, however, reactions have been mixed.

Kawamata will be having lunch with the public every day for the duration of the installation (now through Oct. 1) from 12:30-1pm in the park. Take advantage of this opportunity and go check him out!
